A ridge lies over New Zealand on Friday allowing the strong WSW winds over much of the country to ease. Another active deep southern ocean weather system approaches the deep south during Friday. A westerly flow builds over the South Island for Saturday as the active cold front approaches the far south with strong WNW ahead of the system then followed by unsettled colder blustery SW winds late Sunday. Warmer air to the north as a trough off the Queensland Coast develops during Friday and moves rapidly NW towards the North Island on late Friday and into Saturday, clocking the winds NNE over the top of the country.
